I decided to try Solution 5 based on the profile alone. Solution 5 has a good amount of fruits and vegetable per serving, along with great fat sources and a decent dose of whey protein. It all makes for a great meal replacement or a basic protein shake, with a solid macronutrient breakdown (all bases covered) and micronutrients (antioxidants is bonus!!)

It was actually robust and fairly filling on its own, which is a GREAT thing when cutting. It's terrible having a shake then having hunger pangs 10 minutes later. So I really enjoyed that about Solution 5. It mixes like a dream in a shaker bottle, and left no residue afterwards, so I got to drink it all and nbe sure of what I'm taking in.

I would have liked the protein content higher, for my own personal purposes. Meeting my protein requirements would have brought my Carbohydrate and Fat intake too high, so I had to supplement with another whey product on top of Solution 5, most of the time.

Taste. Not the worst, but not great by any means. Chocolate tasted like chocolate, and was rich and thick, not the best, but it had a very annoying organic taste to it. It also had the aftertaste of vomit. That may sounds gross, but surprisingly the barf aftertaste was doable for the entire tub. Not great taste overall though.

And I actually would use it again, but mainly for the profile.

First of all, I like the ingredient profile. This profile has nice digestive enzymes and good extracts from fruit and veggies. I mixed one scoop in 8oz of water and it came out quite good. The texture was between thin and thick. The chocolate flavor was okay, but nothing that amazing. The first taste was pretty good, but the more I tasted it..the more I wanted to stop drinking it. The aftertaste was killing me after a while. I wonder if it taste better in milk. This product comes out to about one dollar a scoop which ain't bad now a days. Still, I was looking for a protein with taste..I would go with other brands for sure. I am grateful to have received a sample and this wasn't all that bad.

Scivation's Solution 5 is very similar to many other MRPs - around 6 grams of fat, 8g carbs, 21g protein per serving. The difference is that Solution 5 also offers some fruit and vegetable powder for antioxidants. However, unlike many MRPs it doesn't offer casein or egg protein in addition to the whey. It does have MCT powder, but it's the last listed ingredient, so who knows how much is in it.

Chocolate

The mixability/consistency was great, but the taste was awful. This tasted like pudding that someone had put in the microwave and burned. That's a shame because most of the products this will be competing with (Syntha-6, NitroCore, UP2) taste amazing.

Vanilla

Again, this mixed well and I was easily able to get a consistency I liked. The smoothness is probably due to the lack of casein. The taste was not very good, some vanilla flavor but an overpowering aftertase that was very unpleasant. Given that there are similarly priced, delicious MRPs with similar (or better) profiles, this one is best left for the fanboys to fight over.
