im with veeshmack on this one, this stuff definitely should be discontinued. i also tried the grape flavor and could hardly choke it down. i needed tons of gatorade powder to mask the flavor of this stuff and by then my macros were so messed up in my shake it was not beneficial anymore. while an isolate is always a good choice, in my opinion there are much better isolates out there. this stuff also used to be exspensive unless it was on sale, at least where i bough it, and was definitely not worth the price. the only glaring positive was that the stuff mixed well ni water but that is not a big deal at all, i would suggest to look for a new isolate if anyoen was tihnking about getting this stuff, but i guess you wont have to worry about that since it is discontinued

I think there was a reason this product was discontinued. The only flavor i ever tried was Grape Splash. I expected it to taste something like Grape Xtend. Boi was i wrong. The smell alone made me sick, i wanted to gag. But i bought it, so i thought it was worth trying. Bad idea, taste was worse than the smell, i puked it back up. I figured since i paid for it, i would try finding a way around it, i tried adding splenda, diluting it, making it more concentrated, mixing with milk and water, even combining it with grape Storm and Xtend. nothing works. I cant speak of the other flavors, but i most definately understand why this product isn't on the shelf anymore.

Ahh, yet another whey protein isolate. So what makes this any different than the rest? Read on...

Taste - The only flavor I've tried is watermelon. While not the best tasting protein I've had, it did taste better than most of your traditional vanilla/chocolate flavors offered by various companies. This tends to create a more 'watery' shake than some concentrate based shakes.

Ease of Mixing - The first whey protein isolate I ever used was Syntrax Nectar. Nectar mixed like a dream and hence became my standard for judging others. Unfortunately, Substance does not mix anywhere nearly as easily. In fact, even isolate/concentrate blends I've tried such as Dymatize Elite mix better than this stuff. You can expect a bit of clumping here.

Value - By itself, Substance is nothing special whatsoever in terms. However, it's not difficult to find it on sale with Scivation Xtend in a combo deal (see www.bodybuilding.com). In that case, it becomes a better value.

Ingredient Profile - This is certainly a strong point for Substance. It offers a lot of protein in a minimal calorie package - with only 1 carb.

So there we have it - this is a pretty standard isolate with the exception of the Xtend/Substance combo deal. That being said, Xtend is solid stuff, and it would almost be foolish not to pay a little extra for this.
